All set for QCs Kulturang Kalye

A series of activities has been lined up the to make todays Kulturang Kalye 2003 in Quezon City, billed as Sining Bayan, more meaningful and exciting.
The activities have been prepared by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the Quezon City government and the Sining sa Komunikasyon, Adbertaysing at Pablising (SIKAP).
Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr., who will be the guest of honor and keynote speaker, rallied city residents, including city hall employees, to take part in the celebration, which he hopes would make a vital contribution in the citys bid of becoming the countrys cultural and entertainment capital.
The mayor will be joined by NCCA executive director Marina Fina Yonson during the occasion.
Activities lined up include workshops on percussion, drum making, Asian movements, wushu, teen theater, paper mache, basic sketching, bansoy making, "hukay-hukay" and photo critique; lectures and demos on waste management, beads making and weaving; short film and video showing; exhibits; medical and dental clinics; on-the-spot painting contest; street theater; pizza-eating contest, among others.
Highlighting todays affair will be the awarding ceremonies for participants of Kulturang Kalye 2003, and a musical concert dubbed "Konsiyertong Kalye," featuring Joey Ayala, Banyuhay ni Heber, Buhay, Eraserheads, The Jerks, Imago, Juan Isip, Popong Landero and Nancy Drool.
As this developed, Belmonte ordered the deployment of additional traffic enforcers during the culmination of festivities.
Visayas Avenue will be closed to traffic. The roads north and southbound lanes from Lands street to Road 1 will be closed as early as 6 p.m. up to midnight.
