Police asset killed in QC

Authorities are now hunting members of a gun-running drug syndicate after they shot dead the other night a police asset during a botched surveillance operation by cops in Novaliches, Quezon City.
Victim Ricardo Colandres, 34, of 8 Don Pepe Street, Sto. Domingo, suffered a bullet wound in the chest and died while undergoing medical treatment at the Quezon City General Hospital.
The still unidentified suspects, whose leader was tagged as a certain "Boogie," remain at-large. Police however, recovered a caliber .38 revolver that was used in shooting Colandres.
Reports showed that Central Police District-Intelligence Division agents, along with Coladres, were conducting a "surveillance operation" at about 11 p.m. on the syndicates hideout in an alley in Dupax Kingspoint, Novaliches.
The gangs leader, however, became aware of what was taking place. As Colandres, SPO3 Eduardo Peralta, SPO1 Leo Pasco, and PO2 Roland Peralta neared the suspects door, Boogie confronted them.
Without warning, the suspect pulled out his firearm and shot Colandres in the chest. SPO3 Peralta immediately wrestled the suspect to the ground. Boogie, however, managed to escape.
None of the policemen were injured.
Colandres was rushed to the hospital where he expired at around 11:55 p.m. Follow-up operations are being conducted to determined the suspects identities and whereabouts. Matthew Estabillo
