Man hacked dead by 3 brods

Police arrested yesterday two of three shoemaker brothers after they allegedly hacked to death a 27-year-old tricycle driver in Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City.

Suspects Ildefonso Javier, 36, of San Mateo, Rizal, and his younger brother Jovito, 32, of Batasan Hills, are now detained at the Central Police District headquarters awaiting proper charges.

Their youngest brother Jaime, 30, is still at-large. The arrested brothers claimed that Jaime was the one who hacked victim Jovito Macaga in the neck with a "beta" – sharp shoe tool, Macaga died on the spot.

Initial reports showed that the incident occurred at about 12:10 a.m. near Jovito’s house along Kagawad St. in Barangay Batasan Hills. The Javiers, who own a shoe-stall there, got into a fight with Macaga after he allegedly parked his tricycle that blocked their spot.

At one point, Jaime allegedly took the bladed shoe instrument and stabbed the victim once on the left side of the neck. Macaga collapsed to the ground and died instantly.

Responding policemen immediately arrived at the scene and arrested Ildefonso and Jovito. Jaime was able to escape. Follow-up operations are being conducted by the police to arrest him. Matthew Estabillo
