Beerhouse ordered padlocked

Manila Mayor Lito Atienza ordered the closure of a beer joint on Taft Avenue for holding lewd shows in violation of city ordinances.
Atienza said Manila Square Garden and Super Club, located at 1988 Taft Avenue, Ermita, was padlocked yesterday by a composite team of the Western Police District-Special Operations Group.
He also directed the SOG team to file appropriate charges against the owner of the establishment, a certain Ramon Castro.
The mayor issued the order following numerous complaints from residents about the illegal activities of the establishment.
During an inspection, personnel of the Manila Business Promotions and Development Office (MBPDO) found a young girl dancing nude on stage.
The MBPDO personnel found the beerhouse to have no permit to operate and failed to comply with the Fire Safety Inspection Certificate and sanitary permit.
Atienza warned other owners and operators of nightspots to stop illegal activities or face immediate closure. "This should serve as a warning to owners of similar establishments. We will not tolerate lewd shows and other indecent acts in Manila." Cecille Suerte Felipe
