Air Force captain yields gold bars in Makati

Four pieces of alleged gold bars were found in the possession of a man who identified himself as a Philippine Air Force (PAF) captain after he was apprehended for the illegal use of a siren in his car Saturday night in Makati City.

Police records showed that John Roy Vincent Tenorio, 30, of Bago Bantay, Quezon City, was apprehended by members of the Makati Police Mobile Patrol Unit at around 11:25 p.m.

Tenorio was driving his silver Toyota (UUR-852) near Makati corner Gil Puyat Avenues when his "wang-wang" caught the attention of Senior Police Office (SPO) 3 Ramon Clave and two other policemen. Clave apprehended Tenorio for violation of Presidential Decree 96 or the illegal use of sirens.

Upon inspecting Tenorio’s car, however, the policemen found the gold bars as well as P62,520 in cash, a caliber .45 pistol with serial number 2359900, three magazines with 24 live caliber .45 ammunition, and two identification cards with pictures of Tenorio in his PAF uniform.

Records, however, did not indicate the estimated value of the gold bars. "The investigators still have to determine, too, if these are real," said PO1 Roderick Sunga, Makati police desk officer. He said Tenorio is now detained at the investigation division detention cell. – Nikko Dizon
