Ex-colonel robbed

Police are hunting at least four unidentified armed men on board motorcycles after they robbed a retired Army colonel in broad daylight inside his van in Quezon City Wednesday.

Teodoro Delarmente 52, a retired colonel of the Philippine Army, told investigators that the gunmen took away over a million pesos in cash and jewelry.

The robbers, all armed with handguns of unknown caliber, escaped in tandem on board two motorcycles. According to the police, the robbers took over P220,000 in cash, assorted pieces of jewelry and other personal belongings. Delarmente’s driver, Nemesio Rominos, is undergoing treatment after one of the robbers bashed him on the head with a gun.

Reports showed that Delarmente was on board his white Starex van on his way to a LandBank branch on Elliptical Road at about 11:45 a.m. after withdrawing the cash from the BPI Visayas Avenue branch. – Matthew Estabillo
