Suspect Ismael Pitogo, single, and a resident of Caloocan City, sustained bullet wounds in the body and died on the spot. Recovered from him was a bloodied ice pick.
SPO4 Constancio Pitagan, assigned at the Central Police District Station 6, and Joseph Mullet, 22, of Katipunan Street in Commonwealth, suffered stab wounds and are both confined at the East Avenue Medical Center.
Pitagans partner, PO3 Reynaldo Manegote, shot Pitogo after he went wild at about 5:30 p.m. right in front of Mullets house at 156 Katipunan St., Barangay Commonwealth.
Armed with an ice pick, Pitogo stabbed Mullet in the arm and back. A certain Ronnie Notarie then called for help to which Pitagan and Manegote responded.
When the policeman ordered the suspect to surrender, Pitogo allegedly lunged towards Pitagan and stabbed him twice on the shoulder. The suspect was about to attack Manegote when the latter pulled out his firearm and fired three shots at the suspect, hitting him on the chest and abdomen. Pitogo died on the spot. Matthew Estabillo
