WPD nabs holduppers of delivery boy

Police unveiled yet another criminal modus operandi, a gang contacts fastfood outlets or restaurants, requests for food delivery and robs the boy delivering the food.

Elements of the Western Police District (WPD) arrested two of five alleged holdup men, who victimized the delivery boy of Jorries restaurant.

Police identified the suspects as Arnold Aguirre, 27, a resident of 954 Vicente Cruz st., Sampaloc, Manila; and Joseph Biron 20, of 960 Luzon st., Tondo, Manila.

Probers said the suspects were nabbed at the corner of Luzon and Buenavides streets, while still eating some of the food delivered by their victim Eduard Deguit, delivery boy of Jorries restaurant.

According to Deguit, they received a phone call at around 8:45 p.m. from the suspects, who ordered fried chicken, fried noodles and vegetables, amounting to P1,500. He said he went to the address given by the "customer."

When he got to the area, Deguit was met by the five suspects, who took all the food from him and told him to wait as they would get money from the house. Deguit claimed to have seen the five men enter a narrow alley but never returned, prompting him to seek police assistance.

PO3 Rodolfo Enderina, PO3 Hipolito Francia and PO2 Benito Decurion of the WPD-General Assignment Section conducted a follow-up operation leading to the arrest of the suspects. However, the three other suspects managed to escape.

Enderina said Deguit’s case was not the first time. "Nung isang araw lang, delivery boy naman ng Kentucky and Jollibee ang nag-report dito. Ganoon din ang modus operandi ng grupo. (Just the other day, delivery boys of Kentucky and Jollibee reported the same modus operandi).

The said suspects even mauled the victims when they resisted the robbery.
