Reports reaching the Homicide Section of the Western Police District identified the victim as Manwinder Brar, 34, of 173-C G. Tuazon St.
Investigation showed that the victims husband Amardeep Singh together with relatives Jugminder Paz Brar, Gurcharan Kaur, Bhagat Singh Grewal and two other female guests were having their lunch at the victims house at about 2 p.m. when the robbers barged in.
Instantly, Amardeep, his relatives and guests were all herded into the comfort room. Inside the comfort room, one of the suspects showed Amardeep a photograph of the victim and asked where she was.
Frightened, Amardeep told the suspects that his wife was sleeping in their room upstairs. Two of the suspects then dragged Amardeep up to the room where Manwinder was sleeping.
The suspects then roused the victim and demanded that she produce P50,000. Manwinder, however, only managed to produce P10,000. When the suspects demanded that she produce more, Manwinder offered to hand over her handbag left at the ground floor that contained several pieces of jewelry.
At this juncture, the robbers ordered the couples maid, Tina Tabangan to go upstairs with the handbag. After handing over the bag, the maid and the victims husband were then ordered to go back to the comfort room.
After the maid returned to the comfort room, the robbers proceeded to stab the victim and hit her in the head with the butt of the gun. After making sure that the victim is dead, the suspects hurriedly left the house leaving behind the bag containing the jewelry.
The victim was taken to the Perpetual Succor Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by attending doctors. WPD Homicide investigators hint that the robbery was just a cover for the suspects who could have been hired to kill the victim. Mike Frialde
