Inspector Rodante Arcigal, head of the Pasig City police follow-up unit, said the suspect Joseph Jason Reyes, 23, of 165 Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City gave himself up peacefully.
Reyes claimed his aunt, Chato Lim, asked him to buy the Bangkok pills from a certain Catherine for P10,000 at a house in Pasig City.
Arcigal said Reyes was waiting for a ride home when cornered by the police.
During police interrogation, Reyes admitted that he was aware that Bangkok pills were banned by the Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD).
Earlier, BFAD warned the public not to use Bangkok pills since the drugs contain Ephedrine, Bisacodyl, Furosenide, Phentermine, and Fenfluramine which are substances that require doctors prescription.
BFAD noted that these substances cause hallucination, paranoia, insomnia, respiratory problems, hypertension, irreversible heart damage, heart failure and kidney failure that could lead to death. Non Alquitran
