Rodolfo Villamin, 6, was reportedly unrecognizable from the injuries he sustained in the face while his father Cesar Alsaizar, a scavenger, was hit by shrapnels. Both victims died on the spot.
Based on preliminary reports, the father and son pair was trying to get some land filling materials at about 9:45 a.m. at the explosion site. The soil was to be used in victim's house at 122 Gutierez compound, Bagong Bayan, Taguig.
Witnesses said they suddenly heard a loud explosion and found the two victims bloodied.
What the bomb was and what caused it to explode is still being determined as of press time by the police. Investigators on case Police Officer 3 Allan Sigwa and members of the Taguig Explosives and Ordinance Division were still reportedly at the site late yesterday.
Senior Police Officer 4 Gil Valdez, of Taguig Sub-station 3 under Chief Inspector Rolando Migano, said the site of the explosion on 2nd Avenue, Carlo Drive, Bagong Bayan, was a vacant privately owned lot a short distance from where the victims lived. Jose Aravilla
