Taxi driver robbed, shot dead on Christmas night

A taxi driver was robbed and shot dead inside his taxicab in Intramuros, Manila on Christmas night.

Police said the body of driver Marcos dela Cruz, 48, was found inside his Nissan Sentra "Alve" taxicab with plate number PWK-156 at about 7:30 p.m. near the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila along General Luna Street.

According to police, witnesses saw two men armed with pistols fleeing the scene shortly before the victim’s body was found. Dela Cruz, who was robbed of his earnings, sustained a gunshot wound in the chest.

Later that night, Conrado Deliso, a 35-year-old businessman of Tondo, Manila was stabbed dead while his companion Jay Daquis, 21, was wounded.

Police investigation showed that at about 9:40 p.m., Deliso, Daquis and the suspect identified as Dondon Magluyuan, 20, reportedly a member of the Batang City Jail Gang, were drinking inside Daquis’s house at Area B, in Parola Compound.

During the drinking spree, a heated argument followed by a scuffle erupted between Magluyuan and Deliso. During the fight, Magluyuan whipped out a knife and stabbed Deliso in the right arm and right chest. – Mike Frialde
