Ex-Mayor Lopez calls for stop to CCM

Former Manila Mayor Mel Lopez called on Mayor Lito Atienza to heed the growing clamor for him to stop the construction of the proposed City College of Manila (CCM) and the "Park N Ride" Project and help preserve the historic Mehan Gardens.

Lopez joined the call for the preservation of the Mehan Gardens and its environs after Mayor Atienza poised himself for a collision course with environment protection advocates and even ignored a cease and desist order issued by Environment Secretary Heherson Alvarez. Manila as the capital city should lead the nation in the effort to save the environment and protect national shrines and historical landmarks, Lopez said.
