Well-Spring Foundation Inc., which will celebrate its third year anniversary, will offer family drug rehabilitation therapy sessions next Sunday, Oct. 7, as its way of rendering community service for those coping with drug abuse problems in the family.
Well-Spring Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center is a drug rehabilitation facility which gives emphasis on the importance of family therapy sessions with its eclectic program and holistic approach to drug rehabilitation.
"Many co-dependents (drug dependents family members) have attested to how the therapy sessions have helped them regain control of their lives. Even recovering dependents themselves appreciate how this activity help them in reshaping their relationship with their loved ones," said Rodrigo Lopiga, program coordinator and facility psychologist of the center.
"I felt I was liberated after being chained and burdened for a very long time. I really thought that the suffering is going to last me my lifetime... now I am starting to realize that it need not be...." said a parent while attending a family therapy session.
"Apparently, drug dependency does not only afflict the life of the person who is addicted, it likewise vehemently encroaches upon the lives of those who love him most-his family. Addiction is a disease that corrupts the individuals and corrode relationships. All those entwined with the life of a drug addict suffers excruciating emotional trauma... and often in silence for fear of social stigma," explains Dr. Ma. Irene Macaspac, executive director of a prime drug rehabilitation center. "Treatment of drug dependency therefore, should not stop with rehabilitation of the individual, it should extend to the family members who have suffered equally if not more," Macaspac noted.
