SPD director nabs robbers

A taxi driver was rescued from a hold-up attempt the other night in Makati City by no less than the top policemen in the Southern Police District.

SPD Director Senior Superintendent Jose Gutierrez, Jr. played hero to taxi driver Lino Santos, Jr. who was almost a victim of a hold-up inside his vehicle last Monday.

According to PO1 Reuel Reodique of the Makati police, Santos was cruising along McKinley Road near Forbes Park at around 4:15 p.m. when his two passengers asked him to pull over to the side of the road.

The first suspect who was identified as Theresa Hollard, pulled out a knife and announced the hold-up. Hollard’s companion, Reynaldo Pocioncula, immediately assisted by holding Santos by his shoulders.

Santos, however grabbed the hand of Hollard holding the knife, took off his seatbelt using his free hand, opened the door and jumped out of the car.

The District Director who happened to be on the same road at that time, saw Santos running out of his car and immediately directed his escort to pull over.

Both suspects who were still inside the taxi cab were arrested by Gutierrez and his companion and was taken to the Police Community Precinct 6. – Marvin Sy
