Mrs. Soledad Eusebio, the present chairperson of Pasig Citys Clean and Green Program, was the first mayoralty candidate in eastern Metro Manila area to file her certificate of candidacy, hoping to succeed her husband, who is serving his third and last term.
Two others, Dodot Jaworski, son of Senator Robert Jaworski, and veteran politician Rufino Javier, have earlier expressed their intentions to challenge Mrs. Eusebio for the mayoralty post.
But both Jaworski and Javier have yet to formalize their candidacy.
Mrs. Eusebio, who chairs the citys Livelihood Foundation, had been pushing for self-sustenance of underprivileged residents. She also heads the Cultural Affairs and Tourism Council, DayCare Centers, Market Executive Committee and Pasigueña Organization for Women Empowerment and Recognition.
Through the able leadership of Mayor Eusebio, Pasig City is considered as one of the progressive and urbanized cities of the country.
The incumbent mayor plans to take a long leave of absence from politics after the May 14 elections. But he told newsmen, he will be helping his wife during the campaign period, which starts early March. Non Alquitran
