Suspect Angelito Jusay, a jeepney driver of 43 Abes Compound, Sangandaan, Caloocan, died inside his room after sustaining a gunshot wound in the right temple.
The victim, identified as Marlyn dela Pena, 45, a fish vendor, suffered a bullet wound in the back of her head and is now receiving medical treatment at the Manila Central University Hospital.
Case investigator PO2 Alberto Eustaquio said that the incident occurred at about 3:30 inside the victims’ house in Sangandaan.
Dela Pena was just about to leave her house to go to the market when the suspect confronted her about her alleged intimate relationships with other men.
The victim vehemently denied the accusation and an altercation ensued. Jusay then pulled-out a homemade .38 caliber revolver and aimed it at her.
The suspect fired a shot, but the bullet barely hit Dela Pena, who collapsed. Thinking the victim was dead, Jusay retreated to his room and shot himself in the head.
Neighbors rushed Dela Pena to the hospital, while responding operatives of the city’s Mobile Patrol Unit later found the lifeless body of the suspect sprawled on the floor. – Matthew Estabillo
