City keeps sanitation amid religious events
CEBU, Philippines - Mandaue City has maintained its cleanliness during the two-day religious activities in the city.
This after the City Environment and Natural Resources Office urged the 27 barangays captains in the city to send their Clean and Green personnel to areas which form part of the passage of the Traslacion and foot procession.
CENRO chief Engineer Ricardo Mendoza in an interview said as early as Thursday afternoon up to yesterday, more than 100 Clean and Green personnel from each of the 26 barangays and 25 more from Barangay Cambaro were deployed to keep the city tidy.

"Ato ning gituyo to ensure the city's cleanliness nga dili ta masawayan sa mga deboto ug turista nga tuyo mianhi sa siyudad aron mosaksi sa maong mga religious activities," Mendoza said.
These Clean and Green personnel from the barangays were the ones who volunteered to come to the city proper and maintain the city's cleanliness during these religious activities, he added.
Starting last Thursday afternoon, on a shifting schedule they ensured the Traslacion route in Barangays Subangdaku, Guizo and Mantuyong were clean. They did the same thing with the route leading to the Ouano Wharf during the foot procession.
Criminology students from the University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue Campus also signed a memorandum of agreement with the city government that their task was not only to help maintain peace and order during the said religious activities but also to help warn those who will litter in the streets.
