Carcar City hall temporary workers undergo drug test

Brenda Batuto - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - More than 300 job orders and 79 casual employees of Carcar City hall underwent a drug test yesterday morning as a requirement for the renewal of their work contracts.

Public Information Officer Candice Acuna said Mayor Nicepuro Apura made the announcement during a general assembly.

But before the mayor broke the news to the employees, the door of the room where the gathering was held was closed to make sure everybody took the test.

Employees who did not undergo the drug test and employees and are found to be abusing drugs will be discharged from service.

The employees were driven to the city’s accredited drug testing center for free.

Acuna said the mayor was alarmed by a report that there are city hall employees who are addicted to drugs. (FREEMAN)
