Mandaue needs engineers to modernize drainage plan

Flor Z. Perolina - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Mandaue City plans to hire 17 engineers that will review and update the city’s existing drainage master plan, it having been designed in 2000 yet, and is therefore outdated.

City Planning Officer Florentino Nimor said the city has P943,000 on hand which will spend it for a new design.

He said the Bids and Awards Committee will hire engineers with different capabilities.

Nimor said the existing master plan does not include a list of priority projects related to drainage.

It only outlined the city’s existing drainage lines and catchment areas and laid down an organizational framework plan.

He said the new master plan will list priority projects such as the creation of new drainage system.

Nimor said once hired, the engineers will have five months to come up with a plan. – (FREEMAN)
