Student, wanted for death of Lapu-Lapu worker, falls
CEBU, Philippines - A student of a big university in Mandaue City was arrested the other day on the strength of a warrant for the death last year of a Lapu-Lapu City hall worker.
Arrested was Jerry Igot-Sereno Jr., 19, a criminology student and an amateur boxer.
SPO2 Frederick Amomos, desk officer of Station 5 said the arrest warrant was signed by Lapu-Lapu City Regional Trial Court Judge Victor Teves of Branch 54 dated September 28, 2013.
Amomos said police station 5 chief P/Insp. Jose Nilo Abello arrested the student following a tip-off from an informant that confirmed Sereno was at his home in sitio Mahayahay in barangay Bangkal, Lapu-Lapu City Wednesday afternoon.
Seized from Sereno was a loaded .45 caliber pistol.
Last June 11, 2012, Francisco Alicer, 29, a staff of the liaison officer of Lone Congressional District Rep. Arturo Radaza was shot in sitio Hawaii in barangay Marigondon.
Alicer was driving his motorcycle with his live-in partner as his passenger that day when three men followed them.
One of the men allegedly attempted to grab Alicer’s wife’s bag but failed.
Moments later, Alicer was shot and killed on the spot. (FREEMAN)
