Illegal "lechon" traders in Mandaue ignore law

CEBU, Philippines - City veterinarian Daisy Penetrante yesterday said she might recommend to Mayor Jonas Cortes for the demolition of the cauldrons in the area as suggested by barangay Mantuyong captain Antonio Maquilan.

“Maoy suggestion ni Cap nga hangtud dili mangawagtang ang mga dagko kaayo nga kawa nga gipangsemento ug gilubong diha sa ihawan magpadayon pa dyud ang ihaw diha,” Penetrante said.

Last Monday dawn, the task Force Meat Inspection once again confiscated two roasted pigs which were ready for delivery.

According to Penetrante, the owner abandoned the roasted after learning the task force were to conduct a surprise inspection.

Penetrante said surprise inspections will continue until the cauldrons are gone.

Last week, the city demolition team tore down 15 pigpens in Sitio Ihawan and the owners ordered to bring their hogs to the holding area at the city abattoir in barangay Labogon.

Buddy Allain Ybanez of the city legal office said his office will wait for an endorsement from the city veterinarian before ordering a demolition of the cauldrons.  (FREEMAN)
