ERUF truck figures in road accident

CEBU, Philippines - While responding to a noon fire last Thursday, a rescue truck of the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (ERUF) on the way to a fire, bumped two vehicles in barangay Ibo, Lapu-Lapu City.

Based on the investigation of the Lapu-Lapu City Traffic Division, the truck’s siren was wailing on the way to the fire.

The truck, with plate No. YCU 971, and driven by Cristian Don Engracia, a resident of barangay Alang-alang in Mandaue City, was behind a Toyota Vios, bearing plate No. YCC 922 and driven by Roberto Florida, 42, a resident of barangay Basak-Cabreros, Cebu City. Florida and his two passengers were on their way to a beach resort.

Florida said that when he heard the siren from the truck behind him, he maneuvered to the right but he was suddenly bumped, causing his vehicle to bump an Izusu truck in front of him. The Izusu truck, with plate No. MCN 416, was driven by Judimar Amamag-id.

Florida’s car was damaged in the front and in back, he  and his two colleagues were not injured.

Engracia said he was going fast and when he closed in on Florida’s car, he applied his brakes.

He said Florida’s car, after swerving gently to the right, went back to its lane, and that was the time the contact was made.

It was known that Florida and Engracia opted to settle the case amicably since no one was injured.

But Florida wants payment for his damaged car.

The Isuzu truck driver did not file any complaint because no damage was done to his vehicle. – THE FREEMAN
