Town officials to revive Compostela de Caballo Festival

CEBU, Philippines - The revival of the Caballo de Compostela Festival will be one of the highlights of the town’s fiesta celebration next month.

This is also part of Compostela’s preparation for the Pasigarbo Festival on August.

Compostela Mayor Joel Quiño said that Caballo de Compostela is one of the activities that gave honor to the town during the administration of then mayors Antonio Dangoy and James Cabatingan.

The Caballo de Compostela festival started during the administrations of Dangoy and Cabatingan.

It was however stopped by former mayor Ritchie Wagas when he assumed office in 2007.

Quino and the town officials hope to revive the festival.

Councilor Joy Abing told The Freeman that the festival classification was obviously religious since the festival was in honor of Saint James the Apostle.

With the revival of the Caballo Festival, town officials are hopeful to attract more visitors especially the tourists.  — THE FREEMAN
