Tricycle driver arrested for hitting traffic enforcer

CEBU, Philippines - A tricycle driver was arrested for punching a Talisay City traffic enforcer the other day in sitio Sangi, barangay Tabunok.

Jeffrey Robles, 30, reported the incident to the Talisay

City Police Station and threatened to file criminal charges against tricycle driver Elga Delano, 39, of barangay San Roque, Talisay. Delano is being detained at the police station.

Robles alleged he had reprimanded Delano for stopping at a “No Stopping” area in Sangi.

Robles said Delamo may have resented it because he drove to the far end of the road and made a “u-turn,” thus blocking the road.

Robles said he again reprimanded Delano, but when the driver appeared unresponsive, he asked for his driver’s license.

Instead of handing over his license, Delano allegedly punched Robles in the face and on the other parts of his body.

Robles said there was another man, who he alleged was Delano’s brother-in-law, who hit him, too, but immediately disappeared when his fellow traffic enforcers came to his assistance. (FREEMAN)
