Special child drowns

CEBU, Philippines - A 10-year-old special child, who went swimming alone, drowned yesterday afternoon in the seawaters of sitio Sawsawan, barangay San Roque, Talisay City.

The Talisay Rescue Emergency Action Team (TREAT), which responded to the alarm, identified the victim as Anime Relo-ao, a resident of the place. Relo-ao was declared dead upon arrival.

Police said the girl and her older sister were swimming in the area.

The older sister, however, left her alone in the water to get some food from their house, which is within spitting distance.

Upon her return, she found her younger sister already dead. – (FREEMAN)
