CEBU, Philippines - The city council of Naga has approved a resolution which allows the city government to sign a sisterhood agreement with Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte.
Councilor Vincie Delmar, chairman on council committee on Good Government, authored the proposal which also sends a go signal to Mayor Valdemar Chiong to sign a memorandum of agreement with Cabadbaran City.
The date for the signing has yet to be determined.
Cabadbaran, like Naga, is one of the 16 cities affected by the Cityhood Laws and assailed by the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP).
In an earlier interview, Chiong said even after winning the battle, and the LCP still refuses to recognize them as cities, they have decided to once again unite in the hope of helping one another.
Once the sisterhood agreement is signed, Cabadbaran will be the second sister city of Naga.
It earlier signed sisterhood ties with Batac, Ilocos Norte, another one of the 16 Cities.
