Fire destroys fourteen houses in Lapu-Lapu

CEBU, Philippines - Some P600,000 in property went up in smoke after a fire razed at least 14 houses and partially damaged three others including the house of former vice mayor Norma Patalinghug in sitio Sangi, barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday morning.

Fire Investigator SFO 4 Climaco Talisid said the Lapu-Lapu City Fire department responded quickly after receiving a call for help from a Sangi resident at around 10 a.m.

Investigators are still to establish the cause of the fire.

In another development, two semi-concrete houses including the house of a radio commentator of Bantay Radyo were destroyed by fire last Tuesday afternoon in barangay Pitalo, San Fernando.

The fire reportedly started at the second floor of the house owned by Leon Jun Juezan and his common law wife, Mariani Saz.

The other house was owned by Mariani Saz’s parents.

Damage to property was placed at P180,000. No one was reported injured. - THE FREEMAN
