CEBU, Philippines - The Department of Social Welfare Development in Lapu-Lapu City has prepared a comprehensive program for next year to address the concerns of families affected by typhoons and other calamities, concerns of women and children, senior citizens, and poor residents in the city.
The city council has approved more than a P1 billion annual budget, with P35.8 million set aside for the implementation of the plans and programs of the city social welfare office.
The Emergency Assistance Program of the department will get P13.2 million, which will be used to address the food and other basic needs during emergency cases, food/financial or material need of individual/distressed families.
City Mayor Paz Radaza said the concerns of the senior citizens will also be given attention including the concerns of women and children.
The City Social Welfare Office in coordination with the police, barangays, and other law enforcement agencies will implement the Children's Code.
