CEBU, Philippines - A man was arrested for stealing a bag left inside a multicab that was parked outside the Fatima Church in barangay Basak, Mandaue City Sunday evening but someone saw the crime being committed.
Renelio Decena, 33, married, a laborer, was arrested by a barangay tanod in Consolacion town with the help of a certain Venson Ferrer who saw Decena steal the bag. After the commission of the crime, Ferrer tailed Decena.
Decena must have sensed he was being followed since he stopped a jeepney bound for Consolacion and hopped in.
Upon reaching barangay Poblacion, Ferrer, who was driving his own vehicle and trailing Decena, saw barangay tanod Ricardo Pecala and sought help.
When they caught up with the alleged thief, Ferrer then identified him as the one he saw taking the bag. Pecala handcuffed Decena and took him to the Basak police station.
The bag which contained P260 and a phone worth P11,000 was returned to the owner.
Charges are being readied against Decena.
