Lapu-Lapu City hall kicks out drug addicts

- Jose P. Sollano -

CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-Lapu City government has no place for drug addicts.

City Health Officer Dr. Rodulfo Berame told The FREEMAN random drug tests would continue to keep the city hall free from illegal drugs.

Two months ago, the city hall dismissed two job order employees for taking illegal drugs. Last month, three regular workers were found to be hooked on drugs and may also be dismissed from service.

Berame said Mayor Paz Radaza has sent a clear message: she will get rid of all undesirable workers, especially those abusing drugs. She said drug abusers have no place at city hall.

Last month, the city health office subjected job order employees to a drug test after one of them was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by the police. - THE FREEMAN
