Two men caught with "stolen" goods

CEBU, Philippines - Two men were arrested and detained at the Centro police station for allegedly stealing medical equipment from a warehouse owned by a doctor in barangay Ibabao-Estancia, Mandaue City Sunday afternoon.

Randito Bocado, 37, married, of Tabuelan town, and Ronald Yara, 37, of Mabolo, Cebu City will be charged with theft.

A detective hired by complainant Dr. Jonas Gallardo, 53, of Maria Luisa Village in Banilad, Cebu City caught them in the act of stealing the equipment.

Centro police chief Elmer Fernandez said Dr. Gallardo hired the services of Regelio Obado, a private detective of the Eross Security Agency and told to follow Bocado wherever he went.

The complainant earlier suspected that Bocado, a stay-in worker in his warehouse was involved in some irregularities in his warehouse.

Gallardo's suspicion proved correct after the detective caught the suspect last Thursday night opening the warehouse and an L300 van driven by Yara later arrived and loaded an oxygen concentrator worth P70,000 into the van.

Aside from the oxygen concentrator, other equipment was already loaded into the van since Yara is employed by another medical supplier company.

After loading, the two men immediately brought the equipment to Cebu City where the detective called the owner and later called the police.

Both suspects and the stolen items were brought to the police station.  (FREEMAN)
