CEBU, Philippines - A man was arrested for using counterfeit money to buy dried fish inside the public market of Mandaue City Sunday.
Arnold Aquilla, 35, single, of Mahayahay, Lapu-Lapu City was arrested by the Mandaue City police after the woman vendor recognized him as the same person who victimized her two months ago.
Police said the man allegedly bought a kilo of dried fish from Virgilia Mondejar with a P1,000 bill.
But just as the man handed the fake money to her, she became suspicious about the money since she recognized him as the same man who paid her with a counterfeit P1,000 bill two months ago.
The man was immediately arrested by vendors inside the public market as some vendors went to the police station on the second floor to seek assistance.
Aquilla is now detained at the police station 1 pending the filing of charges against him. -
