Indigent residents avail of free medical services

CEBU, Philippines - Almost 500 indigent residents of Talisay City benefited from last Sunday's medical-dental mission initiated by the Knights of Columbus - Sta. Teresa de Avila Chapter held in barangay Poblacion, Talisay City.

City Councilor Bernard Odilao, K of C's program director, said they've been doing it every year in the past for purposes of helping those who can not afford doctors.

"Daghan man pud nato diri ang dili ka-afford magpa-check up or magpaibot og ngipon kay mahal lagi. So mao ning among project, para makatabang pud tawon nila," said Odilao.

At least 150 individuals availed of the free dental services like tooth extraction, prophylaxis, and filling.

Some 450 city residents were attended to by doctors from Sacred Heart Hospital, through the courtesy of Councilor Choy Aznar, chairman on council committee on Health, whose family owns and operates the health facility.

About P50,000 worth of medicines were also distributed, said Odilao.

Meanwhile, around 500 children were circumcised last Saturday at the covered court of Sta. Teresa de Avila Church. The project was initiated by the office of Aznar.
