Consolacion farmers want roads repaired

CEBU, Philippines - Farmers of the mountain barangay of Garing in Consolacion town are urging town officials and sixth district Rep. Gabriel Luigi Quisumbing to allocate funds for the repair of damaged provincial and barangay roads.

Barangay Garing captain Ronaldo Alimoren told Rep. Quisumbing that the dilapidated roads cause inconvenience to farmers when moving their produce from the farms to the market.

Alimoren said most the residents are dependent motorcycles or "habal-habal" for transportation.

Quisumbing, who personally visited Barangay Garing and met with farmers, said he would talk to DPWH about the matter.

Quisumbing said the DPWH is in charge of repairs of national roads.

Consolacion municipal Councilor Julius Alegado said Mayor Teresa Alegado has talked to Governor Gwen Garcia about road repairs.
