Making an entrance at the Met Ball

MANILA, Philippines - Designers and their celebrity wearers have found their moment at the Met Ball, the annual Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute Gala, which is turning out to be the, err, Superbowl of fashion. Style-watchers kept up, by the minute, if Twitter was any indication, on who was arriving and what she was wearing. Previously the museum did an homage to one designer, however this year it staged an interesting theme, the juxtaposition of two fearless visionaries from different eras, Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada for the evening, “Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations.” But the red carpet proved anything is now possible, from history-revisiting bold hot pinks to restrained Pradas, with couture creations making a strong showing. The choices were interesting, not without flamboyance and irony, signaling that when it comes to fashion it’s all about being yourself — while taking fun risks.?
