Gerry Katigbak: Scream Indochine

MANILA, Philippines - Gerry Katigbak’s Holiday 2011 collection was a Frenchified presentation of timeless pieces with a little flair for both men and women.  Darker solid hues set the tone of the collection while subtle details provided for classic pieces with a twist.  Smart dressing for men included deconstructed jackets in fire engine red, greige and charcoal gray and accessory clad vests worn over long-sleeve shirts and pants.  Vests completely created from lace lent a true Parisian feel to particular evening pieces.

For ladies, shorts and minis reverberated heavily throughout the show especially printed ones and those made with linen, brocade and printed taffeta.  Tops constructed of sheer fabric and lace with ladylike cuffs lent chic panache to the gamine Indochine collection. Katigbak’s collar-pleating technique stood out on the embellished belted and short sleeve brocade mini dresses coming down the runway.  Sparkling mini cocktail dresses with lace appliqué featured prominently towards the end of the show.  Bravo!
