Nail color goes from Burlesque to Bern

MANILA, Philippines - Cristina Aguilera’s new movie Burlesque looks like an extended version of Lady Marmalade — skimpy on plot but not the feathers — so just enjoy the costume extravaganza and don’t expect it to be her 8 Mile. After the success of earlier movie tie-ins with Shrek and Alice in Wonderland, OPI, the go-to nail polish of the Hollywood set, has teamed up with Sony Pictures and launched 12 limited-edition nail lacquers inspired by the film for the holidays. “The colors were modeled on the majestic glamour, over-the-top costumes and mesmerizing cabaret that are typically seen in burlesque performances,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, executive VP and artistic director of OPI.

The Burlesque collection features a series of glitters and shimmers with the usual kitschy OPI names: Bring On The Bling is a gold glitter, Glow Up Already! has a glittering green sheen, Extra-va-vaganza is an orange glittery shade, Simmer and Shimmer glitters in blue, Show It and Glow It does fuchsia, Rising Star is a lustrous gold, Take the Stage goes warm orange, The Show Must Go On! has a deep pink shimmer, and Sparkle-icious mixes it all up. This collection has more glitter than a Gay Pride parade.

For a toned-down but equally festive look for fall/winter, OPI also releases the Swiss Collection, “New-tral” territory based on the popular runway palette the past few seasons. “Switzerland provided the inspiration for this season, with a backdrop of snow-peaked mountains, lush glacial valleys and glittering lakes,” says Weiss-Fishmann. But rather than offering a range of beiges, OPI gives us deep shades of rich color from dark green to glowing red, to complement the earth tones prevalent in current wardrobes. Metallic shades of pewter and gold offer an additional touch of elegance. The collection consists of the popular The Color to Watch in delicate lilac, Yodel Me on My Cell in a cool blue shade, Cuckoo for this Color in dark green, Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous in pewter, Glitzerland which has the Swiss gold hue, Diva of Geneva is a vibrant pink-red, Color So Hot It Berns is a warm red color, From A to Zurich is a rich ruby shade, I’m Suzi and I’m a Chocoholic is obviously a brown shade, Just a Little Rosti at This is a brandy-red shade and Ski Teal We Drop is a gray-green blue. Think of this collection as a Swiss bank account for your toes.

OPI products are used at Nail Tropics Salon in Serendra, Eastwood, Greenbelt 5 and Alabang Town Center.
