Despite a dearth of locations to test-drive the latest trends (anything air-conditioned in close-to-freezing temperatures should do), what’s come to the forefront, based on plenty of rack research, is the khaki everything.
Consider it the perfect summer staple. Lightweight enough to withstand the kind of high temperatures we’ve been subject to for the past few weeks and so versatile it goes with everything from denim to sequins, khaki’s clearly made its place on the runways of every buzz-worthy summer 2010 collection worth mentioning (hello, Alexander Wang, Celine and co).
Whether it’s the main piece (like a Joey Samson khaki jumpsuit or Kamiseta romper) or an ensemble player (like a cropped Tyler jacket or even a raffia belt from Mango), khaki’s made itself an indispensable part of the wardrobe.
Wear it with brights — like day-glo hues — or pair it with crisp white. The great thing about khaki is that it goes with anything, even an orange tan from a self-tanning experiment gone wrong.
Consider it the new, easy-going neutral.
