MANILA, Philippines - The Mega Fashion Hall, SM Megamall’s game-changing new wing, opened its doors last Jan. 28 as a premier shopping, dining, and lifestyle destination.
The 101,000-square-meter new wing also creates a new exciting presence on EDSA and gives SM Megamall a fresh, iconic identity. SM Mega Fashion Hall’s exterior takes its cue from the barcode blocks from the existing mall in white and silver metal barcode stripes, all running vertically.
The main part of the expansion is a semicircular drum located on the former Building B carpark site facing EDSA. Five stories high to match the existing SM Megamall floors, the new wing’s basic planning forms a half-circle loop which connects into the original SM Megamall’s straight circulation spine.
In addition, a large wedge-shaped atrium penetrates the drum, allowing for a central multi-purpose space, which can host performances, exhibitions, fairs, and product launches. This atrium also acts as a huge display window towards EDSA, where people can glimpse the many activities and merchandise displays inside.
What’s trending at the new Mega Fashion Hall? It is home to the flagship stores of the world’s most popular fashion brands Uniqlo and Zara. Many new global brands will be opening their first store in the Philippines at the new wing including Denmark’s Vero Moda, Spain’s Pull & Bear and Uno de 50, LA-based Joe’s Jeans, London’s Savile Row and Burton, French shoe brand Nao de Brasil, and U.S. skincare label Philosophy.
It will also house Swedish retailer H&M in the middle of the year.
It’s a moveable feast at the Mega Fashion Hall as it brings together some of the most exciting international dining concepts — Hong Kong’s Michelin star dimsum restaurant Tim Ho Wan, the first Saint Marc’s Café of Tokyo, and gyoza specialist Osaka Ohsho.
Foodies will also love homegrown specialty restaurants like Abe, artisanal pastries at Chez Karine, and the hearty Viking’s Buffet. And of course, the Mega Food Hall opens up a whole world of dining possibilities.
The Mega Fashion Hall sets the standards for premier leisure and entertainment. Here, film enthusiasts can enjoy the larger-than-life IMAX Theater, as well as private screening functions at the Director’s Club, which has its own butler service.
An Olympic-size ice skating rink and a fully computerized 14-lane Bowling Center complete the mega lifestyle experience.
The Mega Fashion Hall’s design team includes concept designers Arquitectonica, CAZA, and Edge; W.V. Coscolluela and Associates, Architect of Record; DA Abcede & Associates, Project Manager; and New Golden Builders & Development Corp, General Contractor.
