MANILA, Philippines - This Saturday afternoon, put your feet up, nurse a cold drink, and take in the music. Young Star’s putting together a lineup of up-and-coming musicians from different genres and asking them to break it down — unplugged.
Come get loose to acoustic sets from She’s Only Sixteen, Eyedress, Miki Hahn, plus a rare set from The Strangeness’ alter-ego Don’t Bogart the Can... Man. Catch two DJ sets from Supermikki as well, all from 2 to 6 p.m. at Aracama’s roofdeck in The Fort.
To top it all off, photographer Gabby Cantero revives Daylight Portraits for one Saturday only.
We’re all about scouring the country for up-and-coming creatives here at Young Star so when time came to put together a poster for our Scene & Herd event, we knew we’d have to check out some college talent.
Twenty-year-old Andi Lanuza is a senior at the Ateneo de Manila University, taking up her BFA information design. “Coming from a family of artists, I’ve been exposed to art and design since I was little,†she explains. “From experimenting with letterings and typography to simple illustrations, I’ve discovered myself in design. It’s what keeps me going from day to day!†She utilizes this aesthetic in the work she does for herself and the student organizations she’s part of — the Ateneo Musicians’ Pool, Loyola Film Circle, and the literary publication HEIGHTS Ateneo. Her work is up on http://behance.net/andilanuza.
