Conversation pieces:Peyups pride

MANILA, Philippines - With the concept of personalized charity being explored (and exploited) these days, it didn’t take long for it to go local — Team Manila local, that is. Instead of the already worn-out clothes off your back, the UP Industrial Engineering Club (IEC) teamed up with Team Manila to design limited-edition UP shirts and lanyards — clothes that could be on your back, elevating an article of clothing to a more philanthropic status.

The “UP Aking Mahal” Campaign is a fundraising project of IEC that aims to promote UP pride and inspire UP students to succeed in their chosen professions. Through their collaboration with Pinoy pride connoisseur Team Manila, they hope to send scholars to UP, and foot the bill for their five-year course.

The campaign idea was inspired from the “UP Naming Mahal” anthem, and was transformed into “UP Aking Mahal,” a more personal ode and declaration of support for the cause.

The tribute to a song that must be sung can be worn now, too.
