Models of Class 2009

MANILA, Philippines - It was an entire summer of passion, learning, friendship and fun for the students of My Talent, a workshop program that offers kids, teens and adults alike a chance to train in the fields of singing, dancing, acting and modeling. And for the students of the fashion modeling class, their summer was capped off with a fashion show at the beautiful new Eastwood Mall. The students effortlessly sashayed down the runway flaunting the latest collection from retail giant Bench with the show choreographed by top director Jackie Aquino.

Under the wings of Rissa Mananquil, fashion and beauty columnist and former president of the Professional Models Association of the Philippines, the students of the modeling class were trained in basic ramp modeling, print and commercial modeling, projection and posing, setcard and portfolio composition, makeup and grooming, backstage and fitting etiquette, to essentials in a model’s bag — all these plus other firsthand insider tips and tricks. “I want to share everything I’ve learned from my 10 years of modeling,” explains Rissa.

“I believe that all models, even seasoned ones, need constant training for their craft. It’s important to always update yourself. There will always be a newer and better model every day. You have to possess a dynamic quality and constantly reinvent yourself,” Rissa says, “You can never tell yourself you already know everything. Remember, success stops when you do.”

“This summer saw a huge increase in our enrollment over the same period last year,” explains theater stalwart Audie Gemora who spearheads My Talent along with partners Vilma Moredo and Kay Strijdhorst. “We are so delighted by the surge of new students who enrolled for this workshop, having been encouraged for the most part by testimonies from their friends who were our students last year, as well as the sterling qualifications of our present bench of teachers.”

With Eastwood serving as its home, My Talent offers not just fashion and commercial modeling but voice, musical theater, piano, guitar, violin, pop concert performance, and hip-hop as well.
