MANILA, Philippines - MTV unleashes a series of parties and gigs this summer.
The network sets the reggae vibe with “MTV Summer Break Rasta Rhythms” in Boracay on May 1, with celebrities gathering at Guilly’s Island from sunup to sundown as hot bods don the latest designer bikinis.
Hot reggae bands such as Tropical Depression, Coffee Break Island, Reggae Mistress, Lady I, Bahaghari, Tribu Ni Mali and Marv and Savannah will purvey their infectious grooves.
MTV pumps up the volume on May 2 with The Source, featuring the down and dirty vibes of DJ Funk Avi, Benjo Marquez and Erwin Edralin.
Singer Kevyn Lettau performs live at Discovery Shores, Boracay on May 2; SM Mall of Asia, Main Mall Atrium on May 5; SM City North EDSA’s The Block on May 6 and SM Megamall’s Main Mall Atrium on May 7.
Lettau is a Brazilian jazz singer who teamed up with guitarist Peter Sprague and drummer Mike Shapiro. After entering the spotlight, she caught the attention of the legendary Brazilian pianist and bandleader, Sergio Mendes. Lettau toured with him for eight years. She then had her first two solo releases, which received commendable feedback. She later on signed in with JVC music and recorded four albums. Kevyn’s recent appearance in the Philippines was in a concert where she performed along with Lou Paridini and Joe Pizzulo.
