Adira
Feminine and funky
My recent searches for jewelery led me to two ladies who did just that. Mariel Quimson took the initiative in designing her own jewelery after her frustration at constantly searching for one-of-a-kind accessories and in the end being left empty-handed or having to give up when somethings way out of her price range. This led her to create her own pieces. After being commissioned to do jewelery, bags and other things, she started her own brand this year called Adira, a Spanish word for feminine and sexy. Mariels designs are versatile, flexible and, most importantly, one-of-a-kind. From bangles, necklaces and earrings to shirts, shoes and iron-on designs for clothing, each piece shows the amount of thought and craftsmanship put into each piece.

Nicole Wisenhunt
Modern elegance
I saw a friend wearing a beautiful stone necklace and asked her how old it was. When she told me it was new, I had to find the designer who made it. I wouldnt have expected to find young student Nicole Wisenhunt behind the vintage designs. Nicole started designing when she needed pieces for an outfit. Following in her mothers footsteps, she used her handy precious-stone connection to create accessories for herself. This year, after a significant demand from friends, she started making jewelery for people who commissioned pieces. With many designs based on jewellery passed down from her grandmother, her pieces are unique with designs that are classic and elegant.
