Calling all fresh grads looking for a job

Have you just stepped out of college? Are you looking for a job that’s somewhat different? If your answer is yes to both questions, then there’s a company I would like you to meet: Epixtar. Relatively new in the country, Epixtar originated in California and has since expanded its call center operations in India and the Philippines.

Their mission is simple: "Surpassing the ordinary in scope – an entity whose leadership role is superior." Epixtar is determined to make its presence known in the Philippines. More importantly, they’re here for the long haul, providing more Filipinos with jobs in the process. But at the outset, Epixtar was simply outsourcing for other call center companies such as E-Telecare. Realizing that they have what it takes to put up one of their own here, Epixtar set up its first operations in the country with only some 20 to 30 people. Today, it’s got about 300 employees and counting. More, the company now boasts having two offices – one in Eastwood, Libis and the other in Alabang.

It’s hard to miss Epixtar’s main office building in Eastwood, Libis. For one, there’s the big Epixtar ad that greets you even before you enter Eastwood. Once there, you simply look for the majestic gray building beside Citibank and you know you’re in the right place. Still under construction, the office, I must say, looks quite impressive. The color purple can be seen all over the place that’s simply modern and sophisticated. Even more impressive are the office plans. They’re opening an enrichment floor where all the training would take place. On that floor will be a game room that sales executives (call center agents) can use during their free time. As for its valued customers, Epixtar is putting up a luxurious penthouse on its 12th floor. When completed, the said floor will resemble a mini-hotel where guests can relax while getting his/her business done. Aside from bedrooms, the floor will also have a meeting room where guests can enjoy the audio-visual facilities. On the same floor will be an entertainment room, which promises to be a haven for those who want to take a break from work. Indeed, Epixtar knows how to treat both its customers and employees right. Fact is, Epixtar newcomers who start out as sales executives not only earn a good 50-60 percent more than the minimum wage, they also get to enjoy certain allowances such as a clothing and laundry allowance.

So, are you interested to join the Epixtar team? Well, they only require one thing: English proficiency. You need not speak perfect English, though, since Epixtar has a very efficient training staff who can help you overcome speech defects and polish your English. Training consists of the induction training for new hires, accent training and product training. On top of these, the newcomer will be given lessons on US culture and geography, and equipped with some selling skills as well. After that, you’re all set to become a sales executive. Quite simple, isn’t it? What’s more, you don’t need any appointment. Simply walk in with your resume and Epixtar’s dedicated Career Center will be happy to entertain you.

Yep, you heard me right. Epixtar has a Career Center to attend to prospective employees. As Joann Hizon, vice president for human resources, explains, "It’s like one is shopping for a job. Currently being constructed, the said facility will have computers set up by the entrance, which will serve as one’s first stop. Through these computers, prospective employees will be able to know more about the company. From there, you’re led to the lounge where you’ll be asked to fill up some forms. Finally, you will be met by Epixtar representatives for an interview. Once accepted, training sessions will immediately begin.

The name Epixtar now rings a bell and chief marketing officer Harry Broward Fozzard II couldn’t be happier. And he’s happy to talk about Epixtar’s plans for the near future. Apart from operations in Metro Manila, they are also busy setting up in Dumaguete, allowing fresh grads there to stay in their province while earning a fair amount of money. Epixtar is certainly determined to go far, boasting 6,000 to 7,500 employees by next year.

So, what are you waiting for? This might be the job you’ve been dreaming of.
