It seems like defeated vice-mayoralty candidate and actress Aiko Melendez may be the subject of multiple defamation charges from two Bulacan mayors.
Earlier, it has been reported that Mayor Patrick Meneses of Bulacan, Bulacan, former boyfriend of Aiko Melendez, will be filing defamation suits against his ex-girlfriend following allegations that Aiko was behind a smear campaign against Meneses’ credibility.
Meneses was quoted saying that he will be seeking legal remedies upon having heard of allegations that Aiko was spreading rumors that Mayor Meneses is gay:
"Tinitiyak ko na aabot ito sa korte dahil hindi lang ako ang sinisira diyan, may mga tao rin na sangkot dito," said Meneses
Meneses was presented with a stack of paper allegedly containing transcriptions of a private conversation between Aiko Melendez and an unnamed reporter-friend via social networking site Twitter’s Direct Messaging. The transcription shows in detail the alleged black propaganda Aiko was said to be into.
Also implicated in this mess is Pandi, Bulacan Mayor Enrico Roque. It was alleged that Aiko was behind the rumors that Roque is the gay partner of Mayor Patrick Meneses.
Prior to joining politics, Roque, an engineer by education, was a successful businessman. He owns Bodega ng Bayan, a warehouse-type of store with about 50 outlets all over Luzon. He also owns Amana Water Park in his hometown of Pandi, Bulacan, where the Miss Earth competition was previously held. He is married to Dr. Jane Roque, a pediatrician.
According to very reliable sources, the Pandi mayor filed a defamation suit against Melendez yesterday, April 28, before the Malolos Regional Trial Court.
The source also said that Meneses filed a separate defamation suit against Melendez and a certain Cez Gella, who was said to be likewise involved in spreading malicious rumors against the two.
