PATA Phl sets series of talks

MANILA, Philippines - The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Philippine Chapter is holding a series of talks, “Pinoy Chikka,” to update those in tourism and hospitality with the latest trends and best practices in the industry.

The first, “The New Face of Tourism,” is set on July 29, 2 p.m., at the SMX Convention Center. It will be presented in cooperation with the PATA Philippines Student Chapter (LPU-Manila).

Resource speakers are former Tourism secretary Mina Gabor, AgroTourism; Dr. Vicki Belo, Medical Tourism; and ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation’s Gina Lopez, Ecotourism. An open forum follows each talk.

PATA, founded in Hawaii in 1951 and now based in Bangkok, counts governments, destinations, transport firms, hotels, tour operators, travel agencies, educational institutions, financial and consultancy services, and media, among its members.

It aims to enhance, encourage and support the growth, value and quality of travel and tourism in the Asia-Pacific. Its Philippine Chapter helps translate these global objectives into action in the local travel and hospitality industry.

Entrance tickets are priced at P600 and include snacks, a certificate of attendance, and a raffle stub for a round-trip ticket to Kuala Lumpur or Seoul, both courtesy of Air Asia/Zest. Delta Airlines also supports the event.

Students with valid school ID pay only P300. Tickets may be purchased from any PATA Philippine Chapter member or the PATA Secretariat at 459-5200 local 516. Student tickets are available at LPU-Manila’s College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management c/o Cherisse Punzalan (404-2040).
