MANILA, Philippines - In celebration of National Teachers Day, educators from various public elementary schools in the National Capital Region gathered recently at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) for an arts appreciation workshop entitled “Sining Alamin Para sa Guro.”
The event was a day of fun and learning for the 290 attendees. It featured workshops on theater stage design, theater arts, creative dramatics, dance improvisation and the visual arts.
Games, raffles, a tour of the CCP building and a screening of the Cinemalaya film “Patikul” that tells about the challenges that teachers face in war-torn Mindanao were also held prior to the workshops.
SM Cares, through its Program for Educators, supported the initiative by distributing gift packs to the attendees.
Chris Millado, vice president and artistic director of CCP said, “This event not only celebrates the National Teachers Month but also gives honor to our public school teachers for their invaluable contribution to the country, most important of which is educating the youth to be responsible members of our society.”
The event was made possible through the partnership of the CCP, the Department of Education, SM Cares Program on Educators, Museong Pambata, Synergeia, and Nido Science Discovery Center.
SM believes in advocating the interests of teachers, thus leading to the creation of the committee tasked to advance their cause, which supports programs that promote public awareness. To know more about the SM Cares Program, visit www.facebook.com/smsupermalls.
