MANILA, Philippines - As Marriott Manila ushers in its second year of successful operations, the management has added an empowered woman to its executive committee, Cristina Silvestre-Carreon, the new director for marketing.
Silvestre-Carreon boasts an impressive career record since 1996 when she started as a sales executive at Renaissance Makati where she had comprehensive training at the sales and marketing department.
Her career took off when she was promoted as sales director, a position she handled for four years.
In 2006, her hard work and perseverance paid off when she was promoted as marketing director of Renaissance Makati, spearheading the sales and catering of the 598-room hotel while at the same time managing events, revenue/reservations and marketing communications.
A certified Marriott associate who has been well-trained to truly live out the genuine care basics of the Marriott brand, she was transferred to Renaissance Harbour View Hotel Hong Kong in 2008, holding the same position as sales and marketing director of the 862-room deluxe business hotel.
Under her leadership, her entire team received several commendations from Marriott International, including the coveted Sales and Marketing Team of the Year award.
Back again in the growing Marriott property in Manila, Silvestre-Carreon admits that she is more than excited to be part of the powerhouse sales and marketing team of Marriott Manila.
“I’m honored to be leading a team which has proven so much, considering it’s one of the newest Marriott properties in the region,” she said.
“The team’s current success doesn’t mean we will rest on our laurels; this is an opportunity to strive more to improve business practices and implement strategies to deliver even better results both for Marriott Manila and the guests,” she added.
Marriott Manila general manager Richard Saul said Silvestre-Carreon “is not only an expert; she complements well, too, the current business strategy of the hotel.”
“Aside from this, she clearly thrives on working with people and building relationships, another trait that makes her perfect for this role,” Saul said.
